If you've searched for "play TradeWars online" and hit a wall, you're not alone. The original TradeWars 2002 ran on Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) — dial-up servers that required a dedicated client to connect to. Most of those BBS systems have shut down. The few that remain are difficult to connect to and sparsely populated.
There are a handful of telnet-based servers still running classic TradeWars, but finding one with an active player base, setting up a telnet client, and learning the text interface is a significant barrier. And once you get in, you're playing a game that hasn't been updated in decades.
Sectorum was built to solve this problem. It's the TradeWars experience rebuilt for the modern web — same game, modern delivery.
