The Three Commodities

Sectorum's economy is built on three interdependent commodities — the same design that made TradeWars 2002 so strategically rich.

Ore

The raw material of the galaxy. Mining ports produce it; manufacturing ports consume it. Ore is the foundation of the equipment supply chain. When Ore is scarce, Equipment prices spike.

Organics

Food and biological material. Agricultural ports produce it; population centers consume it. Disrupting the Organics supply to a key sector weakens its colony output and creates economic leverage.

Equipment

Manufactured goods that fuel ship upgrades and colony growth. Requires both Ore and a stable supply chain. The most profitable commodity — and the most contested.

How Port Trading Works

Finding Ports

Every sector in Sectorum may contain a port — a trading station where you can buy or sell commodities. Ports have a class that determines which commodities they buy and sell. Learning which port classes complement each other is the foundation of profitable trading.

Supply & Demand

Port prices are not static. Every trade matters. Buy Ore at a port and its supply drops — the next trader will pay more for the same amount. Sell Equipment at a port and its price falls as supply increases. The market is a living system that rewards traders who understand its rhythms.

Turn Management

Every move between sectors costs turns. Every trade costs a turn. You have a finite number of turns per day, which means every trade route you run is a strategic choice: is this the highest-value use of my turns right now?

Building Routes

The best traders don't make one-off trades — they identify pairs of ports where they can buy low and sell high repeatedly. A good trade route is a money machine. A great trade route is a secret you protect.

Why the Economy Matters Beyond Trading

Fund Your Ship

Profit pays for ship upgrades — cargo bays, shields, weaponry. Trading is how everyone starts building power.

Fuel Your Colonies

Colonies on your planets need Organics to grow. Controlling supply chains gives you a structural advantage.

Fund Your Corporation

Corporations need credits to operate. The best corporations have dedicated traders running efficient routes around the clock.

Economic Warfare

Disrupting an enemy's supply chain is a legitimate strategy. Corner the Equipment market in their region and watch their expansion stall.
